Random News from the W's

So, we really have been doing stuff lately. I swear. Here's some of it.

Big Bang
Maddie got hit in the head by a baseball bat. Parks was playing tee-ball in our yard and hit the ball, then proceeded to throw the bat behind him, which headed on a straight course for Maddie's head. A few stitches later, and she's no worse for the wear. The doctor warned her the numbing shots were going to hurt, and that it was OK to cry. But, being the stubborn little girl she is, she didn't even move a muscle, let alone cry. The doctor said she's one of the best patients he's had. They even gave her a special syringe squirt gun for being so well behaved.

A hiking we will go
Of course, the whole stitches incident took place while Aaron was gone with his Varsity scouts. They've spent the last week hiking all over Southern Utah. Luckily they've all made it home without any injury or maiming. However, I'm pretty sure Aaron's wanted to kill a couple of them throughout the course of the week. Thankfully he knows how to practice self-restraint.

Batter up!
Parks finished soccer (isn't he just cute?)
and has started another season of tee-ball. Now that he's in his second year, he seems to know a little more about what he's doing. Now he especially knows the importance of bat safety! Sheesh! Anyway, he can usually hit the ball off the dang tee on his first try and he's getting much better at catching the ball. That said, it's dang funny to watch all those 5- and 6-year-olds play. I could watch one little boy on his team run all day.

Still running
It's T minus 6 days until the Wasatch Back relay race. I'm running it again this year with a good friend, and Dustin, and a bunch of people I hardly know. I'll be on the same leg as last year, so hopefully my body will know what to do. My training hasn't been as intense this year, so I'm praying to just make it through. Our team name is Speedy Turtles. And with all the injury we've had this year, we'll be lucky to make it to the finish line faster than a turtle. At least we have a cute cheerleader!

Float or Sink?

I'm in charge of planning and creating a float for the city's 4th of July celebration. Lucky me, eh? I've never even been on a float, let alone attempted to make one, so this should be interesting. If you have any expert float-making tips, I'd be glad to hear them. :)

Sweet Baby
Dustin and Monica blessed their sweet baby girl this past weekend. She is just the cutest thing. Maybe it's because babyhood is 3 or 4 years behind me, but I can finally look at a baby and just want to want to eat her up. A couple of years ago, the sight of a new baby would just make me tired. But she is just such a sweetie. I've offered to take her home with me several times. For some reason, Dustin and Monica have never taken me up on that.

So that's all the random stuff that's been happening at our house lately. The End.
