Food Facts

Is it just me, or is anyone else incensed that the ice cream containers keep shrinking. Seriously. The standard was once a half gallon, right? Then they had the audacity to shrink it to 1.75 quarts. Really? Who knows what a quart is anyway. Stinkin metric system.

Now, I go to the store and it looks like the standard is down to 1.5 quarts! The little containers are so small sitting there in the freezer case. They're looking up at you from their tiny containers begging for you to take them home. But I get angry just looking at them. I know my angst lies in the fact that I'm frugal to a fault. I'm mad that I have to pay just as much for 1.5 quarts as I once did for a half gallon. But still...

Maybe someone is putting pressure on the ice cream companies to do something about the overweight epidemic that seems to be sweeping our country. Maybe they're trying to help their bottom line (both literally and financially). But really, I like my ice cream, and I like a lot of it. So what is to be done about these 1.5 quart containers? Isn't there a senator or something I can write? And is it somehow hypocritical that I have exactly 1.5 quarts of vanilla bean sitting in my freezer just waiting to be eaten?

I am going to write my senator. I agree with everything you have spoken and I believe that you should be our parties spokeswoman. I know this may be a little ironic, seeing that our company sells them and everything but, I support you whole heartedly! Amen and Amen!
