Weekly Update

So one of the reasons I decided to start blogging is so I would actually write down things that are happening in our life. So here are a few notable things that happened this past week:

Fun at the fun center
As I've already mentioned, Maddie turned 2 last week. We went to a local fun center here for her birthday. They have a giant play land and lots of games where you earn tickets, yada, yada. Maddie was terrified of the play land. She went in it for maybe 30 seconds, and then she'd had enough. The only thing she even remotely enjoyed was those little cars. You know, the kind that are outside grocery stores or whatever. She wanted to ride those all night. They also had fun playing the dancing game and got really messy eating pizza and fruit punch. The highlight of the night was when the kids redeemed their tickets for a neon friendship bracelet and a dinosaur eraser. They thought that was the coolest thing ever. I learned something from this experience. Next time, we'll just get a roll of quarters and let them go wild outside the grocery store. I'm sure they'd ride those little cars for at least an hour if we let them. Then I'll give them each a dollar store toy for their prize and call it good.

We colored eggs
Coloring eggs took on a whole new meaning as Parks literally colored (with a crayon) every inch of his hard-boiled egg. Meanwhile, Maddie spilled 2 cups of egg dye all over everything. Fun times.

We (well, Aaron) installed a medicine cabinet
We really are geniuses. We have lived in this house nearly 7 years, and for nearly 7 years I've complained about the lack of room in our one and only bathroom. There is hardly any storage space so we reverted to putting some toiletries on the bathroom counter because we just didn't have anywhere else for it to go. Then last week, a revelation occurred. If we install a medicine cabinet, our storage space will almost triple! Why it took us 7 years to figure this out, I don't know. We really are geniuses. But at least now we're geniuses with more storage space. Yay for a new medicine cabinet!

Easter Sunday clothes
For at least a year now, I've been trying to make Parks church outfits "cuter". Since he's grown up enough to have a say in what he wears, he no longer wants to wear sweater vests. Dang. I love sweater vests. I would make him and Aaron wear them every day if I could. Parks literally has at least 6 sweater vests in his closet. But now, like his dad, he flatly refuses to wear them. So, this year, the Easter Bunny brought him a clip-on tie. He loves it! Again, we are geniuses here! If we had given it to him, I'm sure he would not have worn it, but the Easter Bunny is a different story. So now he loves his new tie and he is a little more "cute" on Sundays. Woo-hoo! Maddie got a new Easter dress too. She loved twirling around in it and jumped up and down for the first 5 minutes she had it on. I think she knows when she looks cute. However, her oh-so-cute hairdo and shoes came off minutes after putting them on. I think she likes to be free. Ah well, at least I tried.

Bugs!
I don't know where they've been living all winter, but box elder bugs have been invading our house. Ugh. Not that they really do anything, but there sure are a lot of them in our house. I keep vacuuming them up, but somehow they keep multiplying. I'm sure they're not coming in from outside because it's still so freezing cold here, so they must be living inside our house somewhere. Creepy. I hope they decide to leave soon.

Entering the 21st century
Well, I officially have made the jump to the 21st century. I now have a cell phone. I figured it's a good thing to have for emergencies and the like. I know, call me crazy. I have a prepaid plan that I bought through eBay of all things. But it works, and it will come in handy next time I get a flat tire in the Albertson's parking lot and I'm supposed to pick Parks up from preschool in 10 minutes. Yeah, that's happened before.

Easter egg hunt
And, finally, we got to participate in the local Easter egg hunt here. I won't go into how it started at 9 in the morning, or how it was maybe 10 degrees in the sun. It lasted maybe 2 minutes tops. Luckily they had different areas for the babies and toddlers, so both of our kids came away with a couple of eggs. However, Maddie DID NOT want to pick up Easter eggs. We tried to convince her it was fun, but she just wasn't into it. Until we told her there were treats in the eggs. Then she hit the ground running. Silly girl. The kids also glanced at the Easter Bunny who came to pass out eggs. He was one scary-looking bunny. I wouldn't want to give him a warm welcome either. All in all, the Easter egg hunt lasted a whole 25 minutes round trip. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

I love it. P. always looks adorable at church and his tie looks great. Funny thing how much dads influence our kids.
Way to go P. I love the eggs. I am not suprised at all. I know how much he LOVES to color things to perfection. I love it.
I let E. ride on the tigger outside of walmart, but I don't put any money it, EVER. She just sits in it and things she has hit the lottery. If K. comes along he will actually move it back and forth for her to get a ride. We are so cheap.
